Plurality’s submission guide for authors may be downloaded at the bottom of this page, and it is the publication’s official guide for potential authors looking to submit their work. However, below we have provided information on the main points of information for authors.
Plurality has two submission methods:
You can submit what is called a ‘proposal’
You can submit a draft essay
When you submit to our piece you must submit two separate documents
1. A cover letter which must include the following information:
Your name
Your email
Your year of study
Title of your submission
An abstract of 200-500 words
An AI declaration, stating whether or not you have used Artificial Intelligence in your submission
2. The piece itself; this will differ if you are submitting a draft essay or proposal
a. If you are submitting a proposal, it must include:
The title of your submission
A fully written introduction which includes your thesis statement, claim, or main line of argument. Additionally, it should outline how your essay will develop in a clear and logical fashion.
A detailed draft of your main body and conclusion
A bibliography, if sources are cited, as well as a minimum of two academic sources you plan to use in your essay. You must outline the main line of argument in these sources and briefly outline how you will use them.
b. If you are submitting an essay, it must include:
The title of your submission
A main body of text, including: a thesis statement, claim or main line of argument, clear progression of argument throughout the piece
A bibliography containing relevant sources using one clear citation style
Engagement with literature throughout
If applicable, how you will incorporate the theme or an intersectional analysis
Formatting Guidelines:
12-point
Arial, Times New Roman, or an alternative easily readable font
1-inch margins on all sides
Please specify your referencing style. Plurality's standardised referencing is Chicago for footnotes and MLA for in-text citations.
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements.
