Focus and Scope

Res Medica is the Journal of the Royal Medical Society. It was founded in 1957 with the purpose to promote academic research amongst medical students at Edinburgh. Our vision is to support the academic pursuits of medical students by providing a platform on which they can publish, share and read their work. We hope that this will not only provide a good experience, but stimulate and inspire students to get involved in academic medicine. We are proud to involve students at every stage of the journal process, including peer review conducted in partnership with experts in academic and clinical medicine. We are an open access and peer reviewed journal. We are indexed on the Directory of Open Access of Journals and Google Scholar.

We are at present seeking registration to all the major international medical databases, including PUBMED, CINAHL and others. This will mean in the future we hope all our articles will be assigned a PubMed ID. We are also in the process of digitising our previous editions dating back 56 years. Although we cannot promise when we will be able to do this, we will update you on our progress as soon as we can.
